Category role and boundary

This category contains four independent component algorithms. Each page asks for the measurements that control one assembly and returns named rectangular parts. It does not publish a separate page for every possible width, height, or thickness, and it does not turn a component result into a structural approval, installation release, or guaranteed stock quantity.

Use these models after the project envelope and construction choice are known, but before confirmed rows enter CutList. Templates remain the project-specific starting points; Examples remain static evidence; Checklists release work; Worksheets retain measurements. The component library owns the calculation between those surfaces.

Choose the component whose inputs match the decision

A practical fronts, panels, and installation workflow

Move through the workflow in order. An accurate formula cannot compensate for a provisional opening, an unselected construction detail, or a product envelope taken from the wrong model. Keep one named revision from measurement through export.

  1. Record the installed or approved opening, reveal datum, finished face, and field obstructions.
  2. Enter controlled gaps and allowances separately so they remain visible during review.
  3. Resolve finish, grain continuity, edge treatment, hardware, and anchorage before material release.
  4. Template or trial-fit the first visible or installation-critical component before batch fabrication.

After generating one component, inspect the part names and dimensions before adding them to the local project tray. Repeat that review for the other components, then reconcile common material groups, grain rules, thicknesses, and quantities. Only confirmed rectangles should move into a sheet or board optimizer.

Evidence that should travel with the result

The category is useful only when another person can reproduce why the selected inputs were used. Attach the relevant evidence to the exported project record rather than relying on memory or a screenshot of the result.

  • Field template or dated opening measurements referenced to a named finished face.
  • Approved reveal, grain, finish, edge, and sequence requirements for visible components.
  • Current hardware or attachment instructions for every product that affects size or load transfer.
  • First-piece visual and installation fit record tied to the released model revision.

Evidence should identify its source, owner, date, revision, and applicable component. A current manufacturer drawing is stronger than a generic note; a field measurement tied to a datum is stronger than “opening checked”; a first-article result is stronger than assuming repeated work will match the first calculation.

Stop conditions for this category

Do not release generated rows to purchasing, cutting, machining, or installation while any of these conditions remains unresolved:

  • Walls, floors, adjacent fronts, or finish thicknesses are not stable enough to define the visible gap.
  • Grain match or sequencing is required but the sheet layout and part IDs are not frozen.
  • Hardware geometry or adjustment range is unresolved.
  • Hanging or attachment work lacks verified substrate, fastener, load, or engineering information.

Resolve the blocking decision, update the controlled input, and regenerate every dependent export. Do not patch a downstream CSV while leaving the source model or drawing unchanged, because the next regeneration would silently restore the obsolete value.

How the four pages remain distinct

All four models share a category because they participate in one assembly workflow, not because their formulas are interchangeable. Each URL has its own input contract, named part output, assumptions, validation checks, stop conditions, FAQ, related components, and versioned JSON. The category hub maps those choices without repeating their complete formula content.

If two models eventually answer the same decision with the same evidence and output, they should be consolidated rather than kept as keyword variants. Conversely, components that share words can remain separate when they calculate different physical parts or require different measurements and release checks.
