Measure first
Measure finished dimensions, actual stock, openings, and site constraints before ordering material.

For overlay doors, add the overlay to both opening edges; for inset doors, subtract the reveals. For two doors, subtract the center gap before dividing the width by two. Enter your opening below to calculate finished sizes and optional Shaker parts.

How the estimate works
Inset doors subtract reveals from the opening. Overlay doors add the selected overlay to both edges. Double doors divide the available width after the center gap.
Measure finished dimensions, actual stock, openings, and site constraints before ordering material.
Hinge overlays, face-frame dimensions, edge profiles, panel expansion, and hardware clearances vary. Build a test door or verify manufacturer specifications before batching parts.

With 0.5 inch overlay on each edge and a 0.125 inch center gap, each finished door is (30 + 2 × 0.5 − 0.125) ÷ 2 = 15.4375 inches wide and 24 + 2 × 0.5 = 25 inches high. The displayed width rounds to 15.44 inches. For inset doors, subtract the reveals instead; keep the center gap separate. Shaker rail and panel sizes also depend on stile width and groove depth.

Subtract the chosen reveal from every opening edge, then divide the remaining width if the opening uses two doors.
The panel fits between rails and stiles and extends into the grooves. Confirm the actual groove depth and allow for solid-wood movement when appropriate.
