App Overview
TileFit helps installers, remodelers, contractors, and DIY planners turn surface and tile measurements into a visual layout. Create a job, describe the surface and tile, choose a pattern and starting point, then review the calculated layout, material estimate, cut list, and placement guide.
Main Features
- Create and switch between jobs with customer names and project notes.
- Plan floors, walls, backsplashes, and countertops using rectangular, L-shaped, or custom polygon surfaces.
- Add rectangular or circular cutouts for fixed areas that should not receive tile.
- Use a built-in tile library or enter tile size, material, direction, box coverage, price, and color.
- Choose straight, running-bond, one-third-offset, herringbone, or diagonal patterns, plus grout width, waste factor, and starting point.
- Review a visual layout with tile count, yield, material cost, cut count, waste, and estimated savings.
- Use grouped cut dimensions and a step-by-step placement guide during planning.
- Export a locally generated PDF through the iOS share sheet when you choose.
Core User Flow
Scanning Tile Boxes and Sketches
Tap Scan to photograph a tile box or room sketch, or select an existing image. TileFit uses Apple's on-device text recognition to suggest tile dimensions, pieces per box, price, or surface dimensions. Review every detected value before applying it; recognition can be affected by lighting, handwriting, image quality, unit labels, and package design.
Common Questions
- Why does the layout look wrong? Confirm the measurement unit, surface shape and cutouts, tile dimensions, grout width, pattern, and starting point, then generate the layout again.
- Why is the material quantity higher than the visible tiles? Box quantities, cut pieces, and the selected waste allowance can increase the order estimate.
- Why did Scan miss a value? Retake the image in even light, keep text square to the camera, or enter the value manually.
- How do I share a plan? Open Layout, Cuts, or Guide, use the share button, choose a PDF page size, and select an iOS destination.
- Will projects sync to another device? TileFit does not operate a TileFit cloud-sync service. Protect important work with your normal Apple device-backup practices and export a PDF when you need a portable record.
Measurement and Job-Site Safety
TileFit provides planning estimates, not a site survey or installation approval. Field conditions, manufacturing tolerances, tile calibration, pattern requirements, substrate movement, joints, breakage, trimming, and installer technique can change actual quantities and cuts. Verify every measurement and cut on site, follow the tile and setting-material manufacturers' instructions, and use appropriate protective equipment and professional judgment.
Privacy and Data Handling
TileFit is designed to keep jobs, measurements, scanned text, layouts, cut lists, and settings on your device. It does not require a TileFit account or upload scans for recognition. See the TileFit Privacy Policy for details about camera and photo access, local storage, PDF sharing, and deletion.
