App Overview
PrivateMind lets you use a compatible language model on your iPhone after you choose and download it. Conversations are designed to be processed locally by the selected model, so the app can be useful when you want a private space for reflection, drafting, brainstorming, and general assistance.
Getting Started
Models and Device Storage
PrivateMind may offer compact GGUF-format models, such as Qwen2.5 Instruct and SmolLM2 Instruct variants, in several sizes. Model availability, file size, quantization, capabilities, upstream terms, and hardware requirements can change. Before downloading, review the model name, format, size, and license or notice shown in the app. Large models require substantial free storage and may use more memory, battery, and time while generating responses.
Downloads and Verification
Models are downloaded only after you initiate the download. Use a stable, trusted network and keep the app open if the download needs to complete. If a download fails, check available storage and network access, then try again. The app may use model identity, file metadata, checksums, signatures, certificates, or other provenance information supplied for a download to help verify the file; a completed download does not make a third-party model error-free, safe for every purpose, or suitable for professional use.
Conversation and Model Help
Model responses vary with the selected model, prompt, device resources, and model settings. If a response is slow or the app runs low on memory, try a smaller model, shorten the conversation context, close other memory-intensive apps, or restart PrivateMind. Do not enter passwords, payment-card details, government identifiers, health records, or other highly sensitive information unless you understand and accept the risks of storing that information on your device and in any Apple-managed backup you use.
Privacy and Data Handling
The core conversation workflow is designed to run on your device after a model is downloaded. PrivateMind does not require an account for this core workflow. See the PrivateMind Privacy Policy for details about local chats, model downloads, third-party model notices, permissions, deletion, and important AI-use limitations.
