App Overview
PoolPilot helps pool service professionals keep customer and pool details, log water readings and completed work, and create service reports on an iPhone. Its core workflows work offline and require no account.
Quick Start
What You Can Do
- Manage customers, contact information and pools, including pool photos, dimensions, sanitizer and surface.
- Record water readings such as chlorine, pH, alkalinity, hardness, stabilizer and salt, with reference-range status where available.
- Log service visits with a checklist, chemicals added, notes, photos and optional customer or technician signatures.
- Estimate pool volume, view an approximate saturation index and calculate supported chemical additions for planning.
- Preview service-report PDFs and save or share them using iOS interfaces.
- Export service-history CSV files and complete JSON backups; import a JSON backup after confirmation.
Water Tests and Calculators
Choose a pool before starting a test or visit. Enter measured values from a suitable test method, then review each result. Reference ranges are general guidance and may differ by sanitizer, equipment, local rules and product instructions. A pool-volume calculation uses the dimensions and shape you provide; you can use a known volume instead.
The saturation screen gives an approximate CYA-adjusted Langelier index. Dose estimates are planning aids only. The app deliberately gives no simple muriatic-acid, dry-acid or soda-ash pH dose from current and target pH alone because alkalinity and product properties also matter. Check test accuracy, pool volume, product strength and label directions before adding any chemical. Never mix pool chemicals.
Service Visits and Reports
A visit can be saved in progress and completed later. Photos can be selected from the library or taken with the camera; iOS asks for camera access when needed. Signatures are optional local records. Open the visit and choose Preview PDF, Save PDF or Share PDF. In Settings, choose whether reports include photos and reference ranges.
If a report cannot be generated, confirm that its pool still exists and that the visit has been saved. If a share or save destination is missing, check iOS Files or the apps available in the share sheet. Sharing a PDF is an action you initiate; saving a visit does not send it to a customer.
Backup, Restore and Moving Devices
Go to Settings → Backup & export → Export complete JSON backup, then save the file somewhere you control. The JSON includes customer and pool records, tests, visits, company details, photos and signatures; protect it as a confidential file. Export service history CSV if you only need a table of visits. A CSV cannot restore your full workspace.
To restore, choose Import JSON backup, select a PoolPilot backup and confirm replacement. Import replaces the app's local customer, pool, test and visit records and company profile. Keep a copy of the existing data before importing. PoolPilot has no account or developer-operated cloud sync, so export a backup before deleting the app or changing devices.
Common Questions
- Why is the calculated pool volume wrong? Check the selected shape, units, width and both depths. A freeform shape is an approximation; use a verified volume when available.
- Why is a reading marked high or low? The app compares it with its general reference range. Confirm the test and use local or product-specific guidance for a treatment decision.
- Why is there no pH chemical dose? A reliable acid or soda-ash estimate needs more information than current pH, target pH and pool volume.
- Will visits sync between devices? There is no PoolPilot cloud sync. Transfer a complete JSON backup yourself if you need records on another device.
- What happens when I delete a customer or pool? Linked pools, tests, visits and their local visit media are removed. Previously exported files remain at their destinations.
- Why did the App Store rating dialog not appear? The app asks iOS to show it; Apple decides whether and when to display the prompt.
Safety and Accuracy
PoolPilot is a recordkeeping and planning aid, not a substitute for on-site testing, product labels, equipment manuals, applicable health rules or professional judgment. Do not rely on an app estimate where an error could cause unsafe water, chemical exposure, property damage or injury. Independently verify readings, treatment amounts and safe handling procedures before acting.
Contact Support
For help or a bug report, email 298030287@qq.com with your iPhone model, iOS version, PoolPilot version, selected units and a brief description of what happened. For a calculation issue, include the shape, dimensions, readings or product strength needed to reproduce it. Remove customer names, addresses, photos, signatures and other confidential information first.
