App Overview
MoodLoop lets you record one mood for each calendar day and add the context that matters to you. Entries can include a note, an optional photo, activity tags, and optional 1-to-5 sleep, stress, and energy ratings. The app turns your local history into journal, calendar, trend, summary, and insight views without requiring an account or a developer-hosted cloud service.

Quick Start
Understanding Insights and Suggestions
MoodLoop calculates summaries locally from the entries already on your iPhone. Activity insights compare your average mood on days when a tag was present with days when it was absent. The app waits for at least five observations for an activity before presenting that relationship. A daily suggestion may highlight the strongest positive habit or possible negative factor found in your history.
These results describe associations in the information you recorded. They do not prove that an activity caused a mood, predict what will happen, or provide a diagnosis. Missing days, small samples, changes in how you use tags, and other unrecorded factors can affect every result. Use insights as prompts for reflection, not as medical conclusions.
Journal, Photos, and Custom Tags
Each date has one MoodLoop entry. Saving the same date again updates the existing entry instead of creating a duplicate. Tap a journal entry or select a calendar date to review or edit it. Use the entry's delete action to remove an unwanted record.
A photo is added only when you use Apple's system photo picker and select an image. MoodLoop prepares a smaller local copy for the entry; it does not upload the image. Removing or replacing the photo in the entry changes the local copy. Custom tags can be added for the activities that matter to you, and archived tags remain attached to older entries.
App Lock Help
Open More > Settings to set a 4-digit PIN or enable Face ID or Touch ID when the device supports it. MoodLoop locks again after it enters the background. The PIN and biometric options are independent, so you can use either or both.
- Biometrics are unavailable: confirm that Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode is configured in iOS Settings. You can use the MoodLoop PIN instead.
- Biometric authentication fails: retry the device authentication or enter the MoodLoop PIN if you enabled one.
- You forgot the MoodLoop PIN: the developer cannot view or recover it. If device authentication is not available, removing and reinstalling the app may be necessary and will remove local journal data not preserved in an Apple-managed backup.
Common Questions
- No insight appears: keep recording consistently. Patterns need enough logged days and at least five observations for an activity.
- A trend looks incomplete: only days with saved entries are included. MoodLoop does not invent values for missing days.
- Today's record already exists: open it to edit the same daily entry; MoodLoop intentionally keeps one entry per calendar day.
- A selected photo does not load: choose the image again and allow the system picker to finish transferring it before saving.
- You want to preview statistics: enable Demo Data in Settings. Turning it off removes generated sample entries without deleting your real entries.
- You changed iPhones: MoodLoop has no account or CloudKit sync. Availability on another device depends on the Apple device-transfer or backup method you use.
Privacy, Storage, and Deletion
MoodLoop's journal, charts, summaries, and habit analysis work locally and offline. The app does not require a login and does not automatically upload moods, notes, photos, activities, or ratings to a developer cloud service. Delete individual journal entries from the journal view. To remove remaining local MoodLoop data, remove the app from the device, subject to any Apple-managed backup you have enabled.
See the MoodLoop Privacy Policy for details about local storage, the photo picker, app-lock information, Apple services, backups, and deletion.
