MoodLoop Privacy Policy

Information You Enter or Create

You may create a daily entry containing a date, a mood level from 1 to 5, a journal note, a photo you select, activity tags, and optional sleep, stress, and energy ratings from 1 to 5. You may also create custom tags; archive tags; choose which rating fields appear; enable removable demo entries; and configure language, appearance, and app-lock preferences.

Mood entries and photos can reveal sensitive information about your emotions, routines, relationships, health, work, location, or other circumstances. You decide what to record. Avoid adding information you do not want stored on the device or included in an Apple-managed backup.

On-Device Processing and Local Storage

MoodLoop stores journal entries, selected photo copies, activity tags, and related records in its local SwiftData store and application container on your iPhone. Preferences are stored locally. The current release does not use CloudKit for journal storage or device-to-device sync.

MoodLoop calculates streaks, averages, mood-health scores, 7-day and 30-day trends, mood distributions, weekly summaries, achievements, weekday patterns, and activity associations on the device. No developer server needs to read your journal to produce these results. The current release does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not sell your personal information.

Local Insights and Automated Analysis

MoodLoop compares information in your saved entries to present possible patterns, such as activities associated with higher or lower recorded moods. It requires a minimum number of observations before showing an activity relationship. Suggestions, summaries, and scores are rule-based local calculations, not remote artificial-intelligence processing and not professional or medical analysis.

These outputs are derived from what you chose to record and may be affected by missing entries, small samples, changing tag use, unrecorded factors, or calculation limits. They are not shared with the developer and do not establish cause, predict future wellbeing, or diagnose any condition.

Photos

MoodLoop uses Apple's system photo picker only after you choose to add or change an entry photo. The app receives the image you explicitly select, prepares a resized local JPEG copy when possible, and stores that copy with the local entry. MoodLoop does not automatically scan your photo library or upload the selected image to a developer service.

You can remove or replace the image while editing the entry, or delete the entry. The original image in your Photos library is managed separately by you and Apple and is not deleted when you remove the MoodLoop copy.

PIN, Face ID, and Touch ID

App lock is optional. If you set a 4-digit MoodLoop PIN, the app stores a one-way verification value in the iOS Keychain rather than storing the plain PIN in the journal database. If you enable Face ID or Touch ID, MoodLoop asks Apple's Local Authentication framework to verify the device owner. MoodLoop receives the success or failure result; it does not receive or store your face image, fingerprint, or biometric template.

When either lock is enabled, MoodLoop hides journal content on launch and after the app enters the background until authentication succeeds. These controls reduce casual access but cannot guarantee security against every device, operating-system, backup, or account compromise.

Accounts, Advertising, Tracking, and Sale

MoodLoop does not require an account, email address, password, social sign-in, or public profile. It is not designed around advertising profiles, third-party data brokerage, public journal sharing, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Apple Services, External Links, and Backups

• Photo picker: Apple provides the system interface used to select an image for an entry.
• Biometric authentication and Keychain: iOS provides device authentication and protected local credential storage for optional app lock.
• App Store review prompt: MoodLoop may ask StoreKit to show Apple's rating interface after certain successful uses or when you tap Rate MoodLoop. Apple controls whether the prompt appears and handles any rating or review under Apple's terms.
• External links: opening Apple's standard End User License Agreement, App Store content, or iOS Settings leaves or switches context from MoodLoop and is handled by Apple or the destination under its own privacy practices.
• Apple-managed backups and device transfer: depending on your Apple account and device settings, local app data may be included in a device backup or transfer. Apple controls that process; MoodLoop does not provide its own cloud sync.

Data Retention and Deletion

A real journal entry remains in MoodLoop's local storage until you delete it or remove the app. You can delete an individual entry from the journal. Removing or replacing an attached photo updates the local entry. Archiving a tag hides it from new check-ins while preserving its relationship with older entries. Turning off Demo Data removes generated sample entries without deleting your real journal entries.

Removing MoodLoop from your iPhone deletes its local app container and locally stored journal, subject to any Apple-managed backup or device copy you have enabled. Because the developer does not maintain a MoodLoop account or journal server, the developer cannot view, retrieve, export, correct, or delete the journal stored on your device. Use iOS and Apple account settings to manage Apple backups.

Data Security

Local storage reduces routine transmission but no device or storage method is completely secure. Use a strong device passcode, keep iOS updated, enable MoodLoop's optional lock if appropriate, protect your Apple account and backups, and avoid sharing screenshots that expose private journal content. Anyone who can unlock your device or restore an accessible backup may be able to access local information.

Children's Privacy

MoodLoop is intended for general personal reflection and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through a MoodLoop developer account or hosted journal service because those services are not provided. A parent or guardian who manages a child's device is responsible for the child's local use and Apple account settings.

Health Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

MoodLoop is a personal journaling and reflection aid. It is not a medical device, diagnostic test, treatment, monitoring service, crisis service, or substitute for a physician, therapist, counselor, or other qualified professional. Mood levels, health scores, trends, activity associations, suggestions, weekly summaries, achievements, and other outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, non-representative, or unsuitable for a particular decision.

Do not use MoodLoop to diagnose, treat, prevent, or manage a medical or mental-health condition, assess immediate safety, or delay professional care. If you are in immediate danger, may harm yourself or someone else, or need urgent assistance, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service. For other health concerns, consult a qualified professional.

MoodLoop and its outputs are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, JiaBao Dai and WoodCutTool are not liable for any health decision, missed or incorrect pattern, loss of journal data, privacy incident, service interruption, device or backup issue, injury, loss, claim, or other consequence arising from use of or reliance on MoodLoop or its output.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when MoodLoop's features, data practices, Apple platform behavior, or legal requirements change. The revised page will show a new Last Updated date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate app or store notice when required.
