App Overview
FloorQuote helps flooring installers, contractors, estimators, small businesses, and DIY planners move from a site visit to a clear quote. Measure each room, set material and labor pricing, review the takeoff and cost breakdown, issue a quote, capture customer acceptance, and keep or share the approved PDF.
Main Features
- Create, search, filter, duplicate, archive, restore, and delete flooring projects.
- Keep client name, phone, email, address, site notes, project status, units, currency, and quote revision together.
- Measure rooms as a rectangle, multiple non-overlapping rectangles, an L shape, a snapped manual floor plan, a direct custom area, or an on-device LiDAR scan on supported hardware.
- Attach up to ten selected site photos at a time, categorize them, and add room and photo notes.
- Price material, waste, full boxes, installation, removal, floor preparation, underlayment, baseboards, transitions, stairs, delivery, moving, and custom charges.
- Apply reusable pricing templates, percentage or fixed markup, percentage or fixed discount, deposit, tax, expiration date, and custom quote terms.
- Review room takeoffs, cost breakdowns, quoted value, approved value, and completed-job summaries in the selected project currency.
- Finalize a quote, capture a customer name and signature, and save an immutable approved PDF snapshot on the device.
- Preview, share, save to Files, or print quote PDFs through Apple system interfaces.
- Use all version 1.0 features without a subscription, in-app purchase, project-count limit, or login.
Quick Start
Room Measurement
FloorQuote supports feet and inches, decimal feet, meters, and centimeters. Measurements are converted to a canonical internal unit for calculation and shown in the project's selected system. A room must have a valid area greater than zero before it can be saved or quoted.
- Quick Rectangle: enter one length and width.
- Multiple Rectangles: divide an irregular room into sections that do not overlap.
- L Shape: enter two connected, non-overlapping rectangle sections.
- Manual Floor Plan: place wall points and review the resulting polygon; crossed or invalid boundaries must be corrected.
- Custom Area: enter a verified net area directly when detailed dimensions are unavailable.
- LiDAR: on supported devices, scan the floor with the camera, finish processing, and review the imported shape or area before saving.
LiDAR and calculated areas are estimates. Obstructions, reflective surfaces, poor lighting, open boundaries, device movement, or unsupported hardware can affect a scan. Measure important dimensions independently before ordering.
Takeoff and Pricing Rules
Net room area drives installation, removal, preparation, and underlayment. Waste increases the material takeoff. When box coverage is greater than zero, FloorQuote rounds material upward to whole boxes separately for each room; a zero box-coverage value uses continuous area pricing. Baseboards use measured length and transitions use piece quantity.
Each billed line and adjustment is rounded to cents before summing. FloorQuote applies the configured markup, then a capped discount, then tax to the adjusted subtotal. Markup is an increase on cost rather than a target gross-margin percentage. Review product packaging, supplier prices, labor scope, tax requirements, and every line before issuing a quote.
Finalizing, Approval, and Revisions
Before FloorQuote can finalize a quote, the project needs at least one room with valid measurements, a client name, and a company name in Settings. Finalizing changes the local project status to Quoted; it does not email, text, or otherwise send the quote to the customer.
Customer approval requires an entered signer name, an acceptance toggle, and a drawn signature. Approval stores a final estimate and PDF snapshot and locks editing. Use the available revision or reopen workflow when the scope changes; any new approval requires a fresh signature. Signature capture is a local record, not identity verification or legal advice.
PDF Export and Printing
A quote PDF can include contractor branding, client and project details, room measurements, takeoff and cost lines, site photos, terms, and approval information. Preview the complete document before sending it. Approved quotes use the stored approval PDF so the original pricing, branding, currency, and signature record remain fixed.
- Share PDF: creates a temporary PDF and opens the iOS share sheet.
- Save to Files: opens Apple's file exporter so you choose the filename and destination.
- Print: opens the iOS print interface for an available printer.
- Nothing appeared: confirm that the project contains valid rooms, try the action again, and verify that the selected destination supports PDF files.
Common Questions
- Why is the box count higher than expected? Waste is added before FloorQuote rounds up to full boxes, and rounding happens separately for each room. Confirm the coverage printed on the actual product carton.
- Why does labor use a smaller area than material? Area-based labor uses net floor area, while material includes waste and may include unused coverage from full-box rounding.
- Why can I not save a room? Give the room a name and correct zero, negative, overlapping, crossed, or otherwise invalid measurements until the calculated area is greater than zero.
- Why is LiDAR unavailable? Room scanning requires compatible Apple hardware and camera access. Use any manual measurement mode when the scan action is unavailable.
- Why can I not finalize the quote? Add valid room measurements, a client name in Project Details, and a company name in Settings.
- Why can I not edit an approved project? Approval locks the recorded scope and PDF. Create a revision or explicitly reopen the quote, then collect a new approval after changes.
- Why do Reports exclude some projects? Reports include issued quotes in the currency currently selected in Settings. FloorQuote does not convert currencies or track payments.
- Will projects sync to another device? FloorQuote has no account or developer-operated cloud sync. Apple-managed backups depend on your device and Apple Account settings.
Projects, Storage, and Deletion
FloorQuote stores projects, rooms, templates, photos, signatures, approved PDFs, contractor details, and settings locally. Swipe a project to archive, duplicate, restore, or delete it. Deleting a project removes its rooms, photos, signature, approval snapshot, and stored approved PDF from the app. Deleting a room removes that room's measurements and photos.
FloorQuote does not provide its own cloud backup or editable-project import. Export important approved quotes before removing the app or replacing a device. See the FloorQuote Privacy Policy for complete information about local storage, Apple-managed backups, exports, retention, and deletion.
Privacy and Permissions
FloorQuote requires no account and has no developer backend, advertising, analytics, or tracking. Camera access is used only when you start a LiDAR room scan. Site photos and a company logo are read only after you select them with Apple's system photo picker. PDF sharing, Files access, and printing occur only after you choose the corresponding export action.
Accuracy, Business, and Site Safety Notice
FloorQuote is a general measurement, takeoff, pricing, and quote-preparation aid. It does not replace an on-site inspection, verified drawings, product data, supplier confirmation, tax or accounting advice, contract review, building-code review, or qualified professional judgment. Quoted values are estimates, not payments, invoices, or recognized revenue.
Before ordering, removing, preparing, installing, invoicing, or relying on an approval, independently verify all dimensions, floor conditions, moisture, substrate preparation, material specifications, product coverage, pattern and waste allowance, transitions, trim, labor scope, rates, taxes, terms, identity and authority of the signer, and applicable laws or contract requirements. Follow manufacturer instructions and safe site practices. Do not rely on the app when an error could create an unsafe condition, property damage, financial loss, or injury.
