App Overview

CounterFit helps you measure countertops, organize rooms and materials, estimate fabrication and installation costs, and create customer PDF quotes. Core workflows work offline without an account.

Quick Start

1. Set preferencesChoose measurement units, currency and default rates in Settings. Add company details and a logo if needed.
2. MeasureTap New project on Home. Name the project, add a room and countertop sections, then enter dimensions and place any cutouts.
3. EstimateOpen Material and slabs, enter material prices and slab dimensions, then review waste, edges, fabrication, installation and other costs.
4. QuoteAdd a customer name, resolve the quote review items, generate the PDF, then preview, share or print it.

Use Quick material calculator on Home for an initial estimate. You can explore and save draft projects without customer details; generating a customer quote requires a customer name and the other quote review checks.

Measurements, Layouts and Materials

Choose inches, feet and inches, millimeters or centimeters in Settings. Add rectangular, L-shaped, U-shaped, island, peninsula, corner or custom polygon sections as appropriate. Check each section's width, depth, overhang and vertices against your actual measurements. Add edge lengths, backsplashes, waterfalls and seam positions when they apply.

Assign each cutout to a countertop section and enter its size, quantity and position. The Deduct area option changes the material-area calculation; cutting charges are entered separately. In Materials, save material details, slab sizes, prices and an optional image for reuse in projects.

Slab Estimates and Pricing

The estimated slab count comes from required area, waste allowance and usable slab area. It is not a full cutting or nesting plan and does not guarantee that every piece fits. Independently check piece dimensions, seam positions, grain, defects and your supplier's usable slab sizes before ordering or fabrication.

If both a price per slab and an area price are entered, CounterFit uses the slab price. Slab-priced quotes require a manually checked slab count and layout confirmation. Oversized sections need suitable seams or a larger slab. Changing geometry or slab assumptions can require you to review the layout again.

Enter edge and cutout charges, fabrication, installation, delivery and other fees in their relevant fields. Review markup, discount and tax inputs before issuing a quote. Currency selection formats amounts; it does not fetch exchange rates or convert prices between currencies.

PDF Quotes and Review Checks

Open the project's Quote screen and resolve the listed review items. These can include the project and customer name, missing sections, invalid dimensions, material name or price, slab count and layout confirmation, cutout assignment or placement, and a non-positive total. PDF generation remains unavailable until the checks pass.

Generate the PDF, then use Preview PDF, Share PDF or Print PDF. Settings let you include a company logo, blank signature and date lines, and default quote notes and terms. The signature option does not collect a digital signature. Generating a quote marks the project as quoted; it does not email a customer or record customer approval automatically.

When you change quote inputs, generate a fresh PDF so the exported copy reflects the latest values. For a missing share destination, check the apps available in the iOS share sheet; for printing, check your printer and system printing setup.

Backup, Import and Moving Devices

Go to Settings → Backup and restore → Create backup, then tap Share backup file and save the JSON somewhere you control. Creating the backup alone leaves it in temporary app storage. The file contains projects, materials and images, and backed-up company and app settings. Protect it as a confidential file; CounterFit does not password-encrypt it.

To restore or transfer a workspace, choose Import backup and select a supported CounterFit JSON file. Import adds projects and materials with identifiers that are not already present. Existing records with matching identifiers remain unchanged; import does not replace them with newer versions. Backed-up settings are applied when present, so export your current workspace first if you want a copy of its settings.

There is no CounterFit account or developer-operated cloud sync. Export and save a backup before deleting the app or changing devices. A PDF quote cannot restore the full project workspace.

Common Questions

  • Why is Generate PDF unavailable? Open Quote and complete each review item, including customer name, material pricing, layout confirmation and valid cutout placement where required.
  • Why did layout confirmation become invalid? The confirmation is tied to the geometry and slab assumptions you reviewed. Review again after changing them.
  • Why is the slab estimate lower than the actual order? An area estimate does not account for every physical layout constraint. Check seams, grain, defects and usable dimensions, then enter your checked count for pricing.
  • Why does importing an updated backup keep my old project? Import keeps existing records with the same identifier. It adds missing records and applies backed-up settings; it is not an overwrite or synchronization tool.
  • Where is my backup file? After Create backup, use Share backup file to save a durable copy through Files or another destination. Temporary files may be cleared.
  • Can I remove records? Delete a project from Projects or a material from Materials. Archiving keeps project data. Exported files must be deleted at their destinations separately.
  • How do I change the app language? Use Settings → Language to open iOS settings. Available language options depend on your iOS configuration.
  • Why did the rating prompt not appear? CounterFit requests the system prompt after eligible completed quotes; Apple decides whether it appears.
