DuctLab is designed as an offline, local-first HVAC sheet-metal layout and estimating tool. Its project storage, geometry calculations, diagrams, material estimates, reference library, and PDF generation run on your device. DuctLab does not require a developer account and does not operate a DuctLab server or proprietary cloud-sync service.
Information You Enter or Create
You may enter or create project names, customer names, job numbers, notes, unit systems, stock-sheet dimensions, waste percentages, sheet prices, currencies, fitting names and types, quantities, seam allowances, opening dimensions, diameters, transition lengths, offsets, elbow shapes, angles, radii, and segment or pattern-division counts.
DuctLab uses this information to save projects, calculate fitting geometry and sheet area, create diagrams and fabrication steps, estimate sheets and cost, and generate the fabrication PDFs you request. You decide what to enter. Customer, job-number, and notes fields are optional; avoid entering personal or confidential information that is not needed for the job.
On-Device Processing and Local Storage
Saved projects are encoded into a file in DuctLab's private application-support area on your device and written with iOS complete file protection. Default units, currency, waste percentage, stock-sheet size, onboarding choices, and review-prompt state are stored in device preferences.
Fitting calculations, diagrams, estimates, and PDF creation are performed locally. The current DuctLab release does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, does not declare collected data in its Apple privacy manifest, and does not upload projects, customer details, job information, dimensions, costs, calculations, or PDFs to the developer.
Accounts, Advertising, Tracking, and Data Sales
DuctLab does not require an account, email sign-in, password, public profile, or team workspace. It is not built around advertising profiles, cross-app tracking, third-party data brokerage, or developer-operated analytics. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
PDF Exports and Sharing
When you choose to export, DuctLab creates a temporary multi-page PDF on the device. The PDF may contain the project name, customer, job number, notes, units, fitting specifications, part quantities, seam allowances, diagrams, calculated measurements, material and cost estimates, cautions, and fabrication steps. Review the document before sharing, particularly when it contains customer or job information.
The file is provided to Apple's system share sheet only after you choose an export action. You then decide whether to save it to Files, print it, send it, or provide it to another app or service. Apple, the destination app, storage provider, printer, device, or recipient may process and retain the PDF under its own terms and privacy policy. Copies outside DuctLab are not controlled or automatically deleted by DuctLab.
Apple System Services
DuctLab uses Apple-provided system services when you choose to use them, including the share sheet, app-language settings, device backups, and App Store review prompt. Apple may process information associated with those services under Apple's policies and your device or Apple Account settings. DuctLab does not receive your destination-app credentials, the contents of other files, or the rating or review text you submit to the App Store.
Permissions and Device Access
- Local app storage: used to save projects, fitting inputs, job details, estimates, settings, and app preferences.
- Share sheet, Files, or printing: used through iOS only when you choose where to send, save, or print an exported PDF.
- App Store review prompt: requested through StoreKit after an eligible user action or when you choose to rate the app; Apple decides whether to display the prompt.
- Apple-managed backups: depending on your device and Apple Account settings, locally stored app data may be included in an encrypted device or iCloud backup managed by Apple.
- Camera, photos, microphone, contacts, and location: the current DuctLab release does not request these permissions for its fabrication workflow.
Data Retention and Deletion
Project records remain on your device until you delete them in DuctLab or remove the app. Deleting a project removes that project from DuctLab's local project store. Removing the app generally removes its local application data, subject to any Apple-managed backup you have enabled.
Exported PDFs, printed copies, messages, email attachments, and files sent to another person, app, device, printer, or service must be deleted separately at each destination. Before deleting the app or moving to another device, export any fabrication package you need to keep and review your Apple backup settings.
Security
DuctLab uses the protections supplied by iOS and stores its project file in the app's private container with complete file protection. No storage method can guarantee absolute security. Protect your iPhone with a strong passcode, keep iOS updated, review device backups and shared PDFs, and avoid entering confidential information that is unnecessary for fabrication.
Children's Privacy
DuctLab is a professional and trade utility and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a DuctLab account or backend because DuctLab does not operate those services. If you believe a child has sent information directly to the developer in a support request, contact us so it can be addressed.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
DuctLab is provided solely as a general calculation, estimating, layout, reference, and planning aid. Its dimensions, true lengths, slopes, angles, circumferences, pattern points, diagrams, sheet areas, waste values, sheet counts, costs, cautions, reference tables, fabrication steps, and PDF outputs depend on the inputs and assumptions you provide. Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, unsuitable, or incompatible with a particular material, gauge, seam or lock profile, connector, insulation or liner, machine, brake, roll former, cutting process, shop convention, job specification, site condition, airflow requirement, pressure class, leakage class, reinforcement requirement, building code, mechanical code, fire code, or other applicable standard.
DuctLab does not provide engineering, architectural, HVAC system design, airflow or load calculation, structural, construction, workplace-safety, legal, regulatory, code-compliance, procurement, or professional fabrication advice. It does not certify that a fitting will perform as intended or that an estimate represents an achievable cutting layout. Area-based sheet counts do not guarantee that developed patterns can be nested onto the stated number of sheets. Reference sizes, gauges, and seam allowances are general starting points, not project specifications.
Before purchasing material, bidding, cutting, forming, assembling, installing, testing, inspecting, or relying on any DuctLab result, independently verify all source measurements, unit conversions, pattern points, true lengths, dimensions, offsets, radii, segment counts, gauges, thicknesses, seams, allowances, clearances, connectors, reinforcement, quantities, costs, machine settings, shop standards, manufacturer instructions, contract documents, and applicable codes. Use a full-size shop layout or other approved method where appropriate, and obtain review from a qualified professional, authority having jurisdiction, or responsible supervisor when the work requires it.
Fabrication, cutting, forming, lifting, installation, and work around sheet metal, machinery, tools, sharp edges, and HVAC systems can cause property damage, serious injury, or death. Follow all equipment instructions and workplace rules, isolate hazardous energy when required, and use suitable training, guarding, workholding, ventilation, hearing and eye protection, cut-resistant gloves where appropriate, and other personal protective equipment. Never rely on the app when an error could create an unsafe condition.
The app, website, reference content, calculations, diagrams, estimates, steps, and exports are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, availability, or regulatory compliance. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, JiaBao Dai and WoodCutTool are not liable for any incorrect layout or cut, material shortage or overage, cost difference, rework, failed fitting, air leakage, performance issue, rejected inspection, code violation, project delay, lost profit, lost data, equipment damage, property damage, personal injury, or any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or other loss arising from use of or reliance on DuctLab. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when DuctLab's features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The Last Updated date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
